Excitement and Spuds

Spread the love

OK, the obligatory early season warnings about using your spuds people, bring a buddy, know where your going, etc. With another cold night last night everybody seems to have plans to hit Oneida Lake tomorrow or Sunday. While the continued cold is making a nice base we are not all the way there. Weatherman is talking about -5F tonight so this weekend is shaping up nicely.

As of yesterday I had not seen anyone out along the north shore (Jewel, Cleveland, Constantia) or Lewis Point. That leaves Big Bay and the Sylvan Beach/Edgewater (reports of perch) areas as the early season activity–no surprise there. I’m going to be poking around the lake today and expect I’ll see the most activity to date this season. I’ll post what I can gather for tomorrow’s report, later today I’m going to work on the weather page and make some sub-pages by area so you can drill down right to where you plan on fishing. Also we are trying our hand at Twitter so if you go to the left column on the main page you can see our posts and follow us as well.

Expect Big Bay to be a zoo tomorrow. Bartel in Brewerton, Aps in Cleveland, and East Shore in Sylvan Beach have you covered for the ice. Thanks to the faithful who support the local businesses.

SU basketball with a good squad and ice on Oneida Lake makes for a nice start to 2018.
