Another winter weather advisory for the Oneida Lake area issued by the National Weather Service from Saturday 7pm to Sunday 10am. Freezing rain, light sleet, and snow are set to create slippy road conditions through the morning.
A high Sunday of 41F with east winds 5-10mph with the barometer falling from 7am through the balance of the day. Monday’s high around 30F with no precipitation and strong winds–warm mid-week.
The good reports came in from the north shore from those who hit the lake early. We got several reports of walleye limits from Constantia, Cleveland, and Jewel, but very little action in the perch department along the north shore. Lewis Point reported plenty of short walleye with some decent perch mixed in. Still getting reports of iffy conditions getting out from Godfrey Point, better to access from somewhere else. Sleds are moving fine, wheelers are moving a bit slower but getting along as the snow got heavier through the day. Walking is very difficult at this time and we expect with the weather that things will be sloppy for Sunday. With some warm air mid-week hopefully things will get knocked back down. The number of people out Saturday looked way down, it will be interesting to see how many folks get out today.
An update on the fire at Nice and Easy in Constantia, nobody was hurt but the snowmobiles were destroyed. It is believed the fire was caused by static electricity and firefighters remind people that the nozzle of the pump needs to stay in contact with the tank open during fueling. You can see a video of the fire here. Warning some of the language is colorful 🙂
