Well, the rescues on Wednesday finally made the local news… For Friday we are still looking at an early morning wind chill of -10 to -15F, winds will calm down a bit as the day progresses and we are looking at a high of 15F today. The wind chill advisory expires today at 11am. 34F on Saturday and 38F on Sunday with the possibility of light rain.
Oneida Lake has been spared from the lake effect snow machine that is cranking up to our north. Expecting folks to start getting back out today with machines and an easy drag. No reports from Thursday as most people wisely stayed off the lake. In fact, I only saw one person going out of Edgewater yesterday. I’m sure there were a few others out there, but nobody I spoke with was even thinking about going out in that wind and I saw no reason to scope out the south shore. We are in for quite the warm up to start the week with temperatures in the mid-40s. We are not expecting any significant loss of ice from this brief warm up and temperatures will return to normal for the second half of the week.
Urging everyone to be mindful of new cracks out there today, you can always follow us on Twitter (@oneidafishing) as we post information on cracks as they come in. Feel free to tweet us any information that would be helpful to others, such as gas holes, cracks, or any other hazards.
