Was still over 50F overnight, but the temperature is dropping through the day and we should be back below freezing by 5pm. The ice is in very sloppy shape, we have a lot of cracks and heaves showing water; a huge one running a couple miles from Berhards Bay straight south across the lake. We still have reports of 12-15″ of ice, but runoff is a concern around creeks. We are seeing 8-10″ of black ice and 5-7″ above it. Be careful, but the ice is holding up well.
We seem to be getting more reports of shorts, but the midday bite for perch and walleye has been solid. Jigging raps with a minnow head on the treble are working well now, some are using a full minnow with success. Finding them has been tough but when they come they usually hit. Barometer between 30.00 and 30.10 seems to be the turn-on point.
It is very slippery out there, wear creepers.
