The In Between

The ice is gone and we wait for walleye season to come again.  Not too many boats have been on the lake this week with the high winds.  It will be breezy again tomorrow, but if you can get out try for the perch in 8 to 15 FOW.  Perch action has been solid around the Oneida River and the wall in Sylvan Beach.  For those in boats, action has been good from Marion Manner to Sylvan Beach using standard perch rigs (minnows and spikes).  If you’re heading out in a boat less than 21 ft. please remember life jackets are mandatory this time of year.  The lake is still very cold.

Crappie fishing is good around the streams and other tributaries and bullhead fishing has picked up nicely here on Oneida Lake.  The annual walleye egg take is now complete and the hatchery is open from 8:30 to 3:30 to the public.
