With the great weather, fishing activity has picked up massively here on Oneida Lake. According to the local meteorologists, this is the first three day stretch without precipitation since late September of last year. A high of 80F today with light winds, this nice weather will continue into tomorrow as well.
On the west end of the lake plan on picking through a lot of pickerel, elsewhere walleye are being taken from 12 to 22 FOW generally but we are getting reports from deeper water. Olive and black/purple are great colors on bucktail jigs with worms. Jigging minnows and sonars are producing as well, Vienna Bar and Cleveland Bar are very active locations along the north shore. Trolling activity with metallics is working well moving between .6 and .9. Black and gold sonars are grabbing a lot of perch. Plenty of walleye limits being taken with a good amount of perch mixed in. If you have been waiting to get out, get going.
Lakeside Outfitters continues to increase their selection as the season progresses, they are located on the corner of 31 and Lewis Point Road. Rob at Bartel is stocked well with live bait for those hitting up the west side of the lake. The Rot Jaw jigging minnows that have caught the lake by storm are available at Lakeside Outfitters and Anglers’ Bay. Apps is also open right now for folks looking for live bait on the north shore.
