Fishing Report: Colder With Strong Winds

Spread the love
A high around 18F today with a low of 9F has Oneida Lake making some ice.  Winds out of the WNW at 15-25mph are making the air feel much colder.  The area will see a bit of snow overnight, less than an inch, so it should not impact travel.  Saturday’s high of 28F with winds out of the SW at 10-20mph should make things a bit comfier.  We are expecting significant snow for Sunday and will keep a lookout for that.  The barometer is on the rise this morning before it flattens out this afternoon and into Saturday morning before dropping through the balance of Saturday.
If you are coming up from the south, there is some serious snow south of Syracuse impacting 81.

Fishing Report

We have the south shore derby this weekend and you can stop into Bartel Road Bait & Tackle for details.  A free fishing weekend is coming up for both residents and non-residents February 17-18.  While you can fish without a license that weekend, all other normal regulations apply.

Not many out yesterday and a mixed bag reported.  A couple limits (most around evening) and some others just skunked on the north shore.  Lewis Point was active, but producing mostly shorts.  Big Bay is beginning to produce some big panfish.  We are editing this week’s video now and will post it later, we have some great information on this one.  More sleds now than wheelers with the recent snow and the drag on foot is getting more challenging.

Be careful with the cracks out there, the snow is hiding the danger.
