High winds are putting a damper on an otherwise beautiful day for fishing here on Oneida Lake. Unlike yesterday, it looks like this wind is here to stay through the daylight hours. As a result, we are only seeing a handful of boats out on the lake and those that we do see are bouncing around pretty good.
Some nice reports came in yesterday, in fact, nearly every single report was solid. The bass folks are telling us that there was good largemouth action between shore and Dutchman Island, good smallmouth action from Billington Bay to Fisher Bay, and some great action north of Maple Bay using creature bait. While many were in the weed beds, many bass were caught in the deeper water off these areas. The bass department also tells us they are getting plenty of walleye biting hard.
Walleye action remains strong across the lake, the reports sound like a broken record but that is a good thing because we are getting consistent reports of limits. If you scroll through the last few reports, things have remained pretty much the same. We are also seeing some great action in shallow water jigging around twilight on a variety of colors.
