The Oneida Lake region got about 3-4″ of snow overnight, which is not helping things are most of us continue to wait for improved ice conditions.  We have reports of 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 inches of ice off Williams.  Some folks are also making their way out via Big Bay.  Make sure to bring a spud and use extreme caution.    We still have some areas with open water from the winds a couple of days ago.  Most of Oneida Lake remains unsafe, with most people opting to continue to wait it out a bit longer.  There are still a lot of slush spots showing through the snow, very much like March ice out there.  The shoreline has issues across the lake still.

We stay below freezing today and only jump above the magic number for a couple of hours tomorrow before a solid cold stretch enters the area.  A bit more snow in the forecast for Thursday and Friday that will continue to complicate things.  Please stay safe out there, in the last week we have a count of three people who went through the ice (everybody okay), things will get better soon, but expect things to remain tricky for at least the next few days.
