Gearing Up for Spring

Spread the love

And just like that, the water level on Oneida Lake is back up.  A lot has been made of the lake level, especially over the winter with many folks not recalling seeing it so low.  The lake is up two and a half feet from its lowest point back in late February.  Oneida Lake is currently at 371 feet, which is right at the Canal Corporation’s “Maximum Target Level” for this time of year.  With the recent warm spell and some calm lake conditions, we are starting to see the return of some boat traffic on Oneida Lake.  Not much in the way of perch reports have come in yet, but as things continue to pick up we should start getting some more information.

For those of you who have not checked out Walleye Wednesday in the past, it is worth looking into.  Brother Ed has lined up some great sponsors this year and opening night is on 5/5/21 at the South Shore Launch.  With things returning to normal, we plan on getting Ed on some video with further details on this year’s series.

Site sponsor Lake Apparel has some cool Oneida Lake gear including our favorite, the Richardson Oneida Lake Gas Holes Trucker Hat, follow this link to get the hat in gray, or follow this one to buy the hat in blueLake Apparel will also be sponsoring one of the Walleye Wednesday weeks this year.

It is hard to not be excited about this great weather we are enjoying.  It sure feels like we have all earned it and we are looking forward to seeing everyone this summer.  On a safety note, remember that everyone aboard a pleasure vessel less than 21 feet in length must wear a life jacket while underway between November 1st and May 1st.  That includes folks on rowboats, canoes, and kayaks.  Stay safe, as nice as it has been the last few days, Oneida Lake is still very cold.
