This report in from Brother Ed:
Friday night saw a hot bite trolling diver crank baits behind off shore planer boards. Fish were suspended and we chewing with large walleye caught 6-10 feet down over 18 fow. Saturday started off with a. Great walleye chop and when the winds died so did my bite. The heat spiked yet it was a beautiful day. We got our limit of eyes trolling crank baits in multiple areas where fish were being marked. The weeds are up in some spots on the west end and the harness bite is heating to a frenzy. You need to weed through a lot of pickerel and floating green stuff. It’s unlike anything I’ve seen this early, and it is everywhere. The mayfly hatches have started and carcasses litter the top water in windrows. The black and purple jig bite has also gotten hot. Remember to mimic the bait they are eating. Goby, perch, and black and purple jigs pattern the current bait in the stomachs of our fish. Many tank smallies have also been caught with Sheephead. Great fish it’s if that is what you’re looking for. Have fun on the water and watch for other people. Be courteous and give a little way . Have fun, tight lines.
The Kings of Oneida Lake have returned, more updates soon.
