A Light Dusting of Snow

Spread the love

The Oneida Lake area received just a light dusting (less than an inch) of snow overnight.  We will pick up a bit more snow during the day today.  A high today in the mid-20s with the low dipping below zero tonight and tomorrow.  Temperatures the rest of the week will return to fairly close to normal.  Winds today SW 10-15 mph and shifting W 10-20 mph.  The barometer is rising through the day today and will continue to rise into mid-day tomorrow.

Ice conditions continue to improve on Oneida Lake and this cold snap coming over the next two days should really set up a nice thick base of black ice.  Reports are coming in almost universally now with 9 or more inches of ice.  You will surely find more in many spots and less in any old crack areas.  The majority of reports from this morning are indicating 10 inches of ice thickness on Oneida Lake and everybody has relayed it is all black ice.

We are getting reports in from 15-40 FOW water but the 20-30 FOW range is where most people are setting up.  Raps, spoons, and pimples are producing walleye and perch.  Reports indicate a mid-day slump for many with things picking up just before twilight.  Mornings have been hit or miss and are more dependent on where you are fishing from.  Chapman, Lewis Point, and Jewel have produced consistent limits over the past few days for many.
