Warming through the day to a high in the upper 20s, but the wind picks up a bit as the day progresses. Cold nights again Friday and Saturday night before warm air moves in. We are looking at a couple or even a few days next week with temperatures over 40F. With the great base of ice that we have, the ice conditions on Oneida Lake should hold well as the nights are well below freezing, just expect some slush next week as some of those days have rain in the forecast. The barometer today is dropping, very early tomorrow morning it will rise before another drop through Saturday.
For those that asked, the truck off Sylvan Beach yesterday plowing snow is for the snowmobile event next month. No, that does not mean it is a good idea to drive a truck across the lake. Oneida Lake ice conditions remain good, most people are reporting 10-11″ of nice black ice. The drag is pretty good and the reports of cracks have remained pretty low. Wheelers and sleds are moving nicely but we do have the occasional report of some drifts.
Fishing reports remain steady, a good strategy is working the shallow water in the morning and moving deeper during the day. Vertical jigging minnows and spoons, lots of reports from perch colors yesterday in particular. We are still getting some great reports off Williams, Chapman, Lewis Point, Jewel, and Sylvan Beach so several viable options.
Lake Apparel’s walleye mug is available for purchase here.

For better pictures of the mug, click here. We are told bass and perch mugs will be available shortly, along with travel cups and pint glasses.
