Tough Going

Spread the love

A high in the upper 30s today with winds out of the E-SE at 5-10 mph makes for a mild day on Oneida Lake.  The mild air carries all the way into Saturday before more seasonable temperatures return.  We have nothing major in the way of precipitation for the foreseeable future.  The barometer is falling today into the afternoon tomorrow.

The difficulty moving, stopping, and starting continued to keep many people off Oneida Lake yesterday.  Over on the west end, people had some good results with buckeyes on a dead stick and jigging raps with a buckeye head in 19-22 FOW.  Fishing reports from the Cleveland area came in from 20-25 FOW with not many reporting walleye limits, but some success with single catches and some perch in the mix.  Reports from Verona and Sylvan Beach were so-so at best yesterday.

We are now getting a mix of reports on the drag.  Overall, it is safe to say it is pretty tough going out there, which is keeping people from moving as much as they would like and that is reflected in the reports.  There are signs of encouragement as some reported easier than expected movement along the trails.  People are moving slowly and cautiously with wheelers.  Ice/slush is sticking to the bottom of sleds making it a tougher go as well.

Site sponsor Lake Apparel is offering our contributors a cool and easy way to win an Oneida Lake Fishing Report t-shirt.  We will have an image of the shirt coming soon.  To enter, all you have to do is submit a report by clicking the red button on the right-hand side (might be located at the bottom of your page on mobile devices).  At the end of the month, we will pull a random report and contact the winner to make arrangements.

If you have already submitted a report this month, you are already entered.  Each report gives you an entry so the more you contribute, the better your chances of winning.  We will be doing a drawing on the last day of each month, so keep the information flowing.  As always, we do not post anyone’s coordinates, unless it is a report on a dangerous area.
