Cloudy skies today with a high in the upper 20s.  WSW winds at 10-15 mph (picking up through the day) and we may see a dusting of snow.  The barometer is at 30.44, but will begin to fall around 9 am.  Sunday will have changing weather conditions with more wind.

The main ice is in good shape but we have gotten a bunch of reports of deteriorating shorelines.  Hoping that firms up overnight but here is what we have in addition to yesterday’s report.  We have a pretty bad heave off Jewel, but people did get out from there yesterday.  There are some issues off Godfrey (about 3 feet to get off and then another 2 feet to cross the crack–no word on machines getting off there or not), but we did see a few people get out from there–again, not sure if walking or machines.  Jewel, Godfrey, and Cleveland had most set up within walking distance.  Reports of issues getting out from Lewis Point (water/ice chunks within 50 feet of shore and a crack out 300 feet, past that okay), but Taft was reported as better.  Chapman, Taft, and Verona Beaches look like easier options.  We saw machines off Cleveland, but others told us they opted to walk.  Bottom line, spud the cracks, machines need ramps in many locations.

Not much in the way of fishing reports came in yesterday, most of the talk was about the shoreline.  Check yesterday’s report for color patterns, etc.  We are hearing of more people ditching the minnow head, using just bare jigging raps.  For the time of year, fishing is pretty good and while the walleye action has slowed a bit, the perch being taken are outstanding with some really great catches continuing.

We will update this report today, particularly regarding ice conditions as information comes in.
