Still Going Strong

Spread the love

High in the low 40s today with a 10-15 mph wind out of the south.  Temperatures will dip again until Saturday when we start a stretch of well above freezing temperatures.  29.99 on the barometer and falling, we are expecting to see some rain later in the day that will switch over to snow–nothing major.

We still have plenty of black ice on the lake, the top 2-4″ has turned to white ice and we continue to get reports of cracks in.  Most reports of thickness from across the lake put the overall number around 14″ of ice in total.  The shoreline is in better shape over the past few days.  Reports of machines getting out from Godfrey again without issues and Chapman is good if you head out to the right.  We do have reports of scattered soft spots coming in from around the lake.  Jewel looks good.  Not much information has come in from other access points.

Reports have slowed immensely, which is not a good sign.  People are still grabbing some fish, but we have more reports of single catches, lots of lookers-no takers, and moving around to find marks.  With around two weeks to go in the season, people continue to get out but not in the numbers we saw earlier in the winter.
