Today is the pick day of the weekend, not because of temperature but because of wind. SW-W wind on Sunday at 20-40 mph with gusts even higher. Ice conditions are reported as good with most measuring 10-13″ still and reporting an easy walk. There are some cracks and heaves but not too bad. We are over freezing every day for the next week with some nights not dropping below freezing so we are likely to see some shoreline deterioration as the week progresses. There are plenty of brown/gray spots near shore and the coming precipitation won’t help that.
Most of our sources have or are calling it quits for the season today, reports have really slowed. The bite has been on and off, but most everyone seems to be at least grabbing a few perch along the way. We have gotten some decent reports from deeper spots along the north shore from Jewel (perch 30-35 FOW). Lewis Point, Chapman, and Williams have also shown some decent activity with most playing with various depths to dial it in. The creeks are flowing so that water is a bit dirty. Caty jigs with a minnow and jigging raps (#5 and #7) for walleye with colors wonderbread, black/silver-gold, and glo green.
Good luck out there and enjoy what we have left. With activity winding down, we will be posting less often.
