Another Cold Start

Spread the love

It dipped below freezing for a bit last night but we are expected to reach a high of 65 with a light northeasterly breeze.  The current tournament leader is Leroy Hayes, Jr. with a 25″ walleye measuring just a touch under 6lbs.  As of this morning, 21 1/8″ is still in the money on a tight leaderboard.

It was a grind yesterday for walleye for most people.  We are getting reports of a lot of marks off the beach, but only a few were able to work a limit.  Most walleye are being taken with jigging raps and blades, in ranges from 5-15 and 20-35 FOW.  Black/silver, black/gold, and perch colors are doing the trick.

We got reports of increased smallmouth activity along the southwest shore and on the western end of the lake with the males beginning to cruise the beds.
