Additionally, this map is under constant construction and evaluation due to the evolving nature of a feature like this and we thus assume no liability for your use of this map. If you are reporting a gashole, please use any of the following formats:
43 13.158, -75 46.869 OR
43.219300, -75.781150 OR
N 42 14.476, W 75.57.558
Each of these formats provide us with the necessary data to easily post the warnings on our map.
With latitude and longitude it is much easier for us to get it in the map that way. Detail is important, for example, 43 13.158, 75 46.869 puts you somewhere in Kazakhstan. Generally we can figure it out, but several of the coordinates sent in to date are miles away from Oneida Lake and we have to discard them. With that in mind, it helps us if you verify the location in Google Maps prior to submission to ensure it is in the location you believe it to be. As we move to a future release, our algorithm will flag those inputs for review and slow the posting of your coordinates. IP addresses that post bogus coordinates will be investigated and subject to black-listing by this site. THIS IS A LIFE SAFETY FEATURE PEOPLE, treat it accordingly.
We plan to release to additional features at a future date. The first will allow you to submit a location directly through the website, which will then be reviewed by a moderator. The second will allow you to ad a location with a picture through your mobile phone.
Our goal is to provide a resource that helps keep those fishing Oneida Lake safe.
