Coming to the End

Spread the love

The ice fishing season on Oneida Lake is nearing its conclusion, we have above freezing conditions all day with some more rain in the forecast, then a couple of cold nights before the really warm air sets in next week with highs approaching 60F.  The shoreline, cracks, and tributaries are all problem areas and we no longer see any way that is going to change.  We expect the shoreline to go pretty quick and reports indicate about an inch of water now on top of the ice.  People are still getting out, but we advise plenty of caution.  Most people are done for the year at this point and just waiting for open water to come again.  The reports that have come in are generally slow, but some decent perch action can still be found here and there.  Depending on ice conditions, we will likely wrap up the reports for this winter in the next couple of days.
