Oneida Lake Locked Up

Spread the love

A colder than expected night and for the most part, Oneida Lake is locked up.  There are several spots with open water, but the vast majority of the lake is covered with a very thin amount of ice with a bit of snow sitting on top.  Temperatures remain below freezing today and while the temperature rises above freezing tomorrow, we may see some light rain work that snow down.  Zero and sub-zero temperatures arrive Monday night and the temperature is not expected to rise into double digits on Tuesday.  It will turn breezy tonight and Sunday night the forecast calls for some sustained winds.  Hopefully, Oneida Lake stays intact as the cold begins to set in early next week.

To be clear, nobody is fishing the main lake as of now, we do have confirmed reports of people getting out onto Oneida Lake via Big Bay.  Please exercise caution if you are heading out.  As of this time, we do not have any reports of ice thickness or conditions in Big Bay nor any fishing reports.  We expect that to change this week as winter has finally arrived here.
