More Wind For Friday

Spread the love

Hopefully we the people of Oneida Lake have not spoken too soon when we said we have seen worse with respect to the ice piles.  We have another high wind alert starting at 5pm Friday to 8am Saturday.  There is still a ton of ice east of Jewel and the winds are expected to be out of the west at 20-40mph during the peak of this next event.  We will see how this next bout shakes out…  We will keep posting to Instagram with pictures of the ice piles over the weekend.

Oneida Lake Fishing

Not really a fishing report per se, but there has been some great action along Lock 23.  Plenty of perch activity with some great size (minnow/drop shot).  Stop by Bartel Road for your bait, Rob is stocked up and right around the corner from Lock 23.  Check out the New Oneida Lake Show, Rob talks about some of the action in the latest episode.

Toad Harbor is just about ready as well for crappie (soft plastics), maybe another day or two until everything is open there–on dig has open water, the other is still iced up.  For directions to the Toad Harbor access site, click here.

Plenty of people are talking about getting the boats out, just keep in mind life jackets are required to be worn on boats less than 21 feet this time of year.  Things won’t be pleasant with the wind today, but it didn’t stop a couple boats from heading out yesterday.

Still waiting for spring 🙂
